Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, quiet town. The West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a large region that runs from Lachine to the west. It is often cited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay in the city was brief. Brugel was a young woman in Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. When she was a child she wanted to be the next big thing in her career, but a sudden expansion of her body made it impossible. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was 6 foot 1 inch tall. When I grew out of male companions and gave up, I decided to give up. Brugel was one of many former dancers who turned into acting. The teacher she had at high school was what pushed her into the right direction. One of her teachers suggested she take part in an audition for the annual school play. The teacher who suggested that she go after a role in the annual school production. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000. Since then, Brugel has been performing in over 60 plays, large and small. One of the most memorable was the time she was cast as Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian of the season 1 actors of the series and seen only occasionally, was the only Canadian.
