Valerie Anne Bertinelli (born April 14 in 1970) was an American actor and writer. The two-time Golden Globe Award winning star made a name for herself through her appearances in CBS's One Day at a Time and as Barbara, and Hot in Cleveland when she played Melanie Moretti. She started acting as young teens and later on over time, she became an established character actress. The friendship she shared with the daughter of a television producer when she was a little girl imbibed in her a love for the industry of television and she decided to take up acting professionally. Bertinelli made her debut in television after studying at Tami Lynn School of Artists. Because of her poised and good acting skills she created a niche quickly and soon became an extremely sought-after TV personality.
